the white for christmas came the day after.  we finally got a good snow which twenty-four hours earlier would have been the ideal white christmas i keep dreaming we’ll have in knoxtropolis.

our church had planned two services originally for december 26, but weather wasn’t as permitting and the 9:30a was dropped.  in the picture, you can see them salting the parking lot for the 11:00a service.

why am i out in this?  well, i thought i might catch some untarnished settings for some photographs if i headed out early.  my plans had been the 9:30a service anyway.  the roads are still sketchy at this point.  starbucks is pretty empty, though.  cheers!

i am planning on seeing avatar tomorrow with some pals.  i caught this clip on the fox movie channel about the making of the movie.  it is actually ironic, i think, that the plot of the movie involves an avatar and the making of the characters as avatars was very similar to the same approach.  watch the video below to see how the cg animation is a direct modeling of the actors’ actual acting.

nevertheless, i am going to make the attempt again.  for the next two weeks i will endeavor to get as much of if not all of my christmas shopping done.  evenings will be spent on the couch with laptop on lap searching and pricing the gifts for my friends and family.

on a side note, my sis has already put up her christmas tree.  i’ve been tempted pull down the decorations and go to town too, but i’ve always set it up the week of thanksgiving.  now, i wonder if putting it up this early might not capitalize on the work it takes to lug that big, bulky tree-in-a-box out of the attic and assemble it.  i might go ahead and get those gears in motion.  maybe i’ll try it this year.  and next year, i’ll pull it down the day before halloween.  if the stores can do it, why not me, right?
